Helping Students SucceedSince 1996, Tanger Factory Outlet Centers has made it their mission to give back to the schools in each center’s local community. Over the past 23 years, Tanger has taken great pride in their role to support the futures and educations of students.The TangerKIDS Grants Program was designed to satisfy the specific funding needs that schools have, from creating and implementing school-wide programs, to rebuilding equipment or academic materials inventories, to supporting academic club, athletic teams or band programs within the schools, as they are expressed by teachers and principals.Each year Tanger grants more than $200,000 to area schools in each of our communities.During COVID-19 Tanger has turned its education-based focus to feeding children that depend on school lunches as their nutritional source. With most schools closed, these students do not have access to these meals. Tanger has teamed with organizations to support this effort to feed all we can during this time.

Our Hospital Staff are Today’s SuperheroesWe live in the company of the greatest heroes and the most inspiring citizens. It is hard to ignore the need and plea from health care workers that are putting their lives at risks every day to save ours. Tanger is working with medical supply drives and many of our team members are making masks and our teams have made donations for medical supplies to local hospitals that will treat over 20,000 patients. We are still in the fight and continue to source supplies needed and provide assistance as much as we can. Many centers are also participating in community wide movements with the goal of showing appreciation to our hospital workers and first responders.

Its Our Planet and We Want to be Good Stewards and Make a Positive ImpactTanger recognizes the impact of its environmental footprint and the positive effect that energy management and other responsible practices can have on both the environment and company performance. We continuously identify and assess opportunities for innovative, environmentally friendly technologies, from the design/ build stage through use and retrofitting, as appropriate. Examples include LED retrofitting, solar and renewable energy sources, water minimization, and waste reduction. These innovations, in addition to responsible and rigorous energy monitoring and management, have helped Tanger reduce energy costs and environmental impact.This past year we have achieved LEED Gold Certification in more than 30% of our entire portfolio. Additionally, our electric, gas and water usage was down 5.41% and we have increased Electric Car Charging usage by 40%.

When Feeding the Nation Matters MostThe current pandemic is affecting communities throughout the world. People around our communities may not have access to the food they need to feed their families while staying safe and protected during the stay at home orders. Additionally, kids across the nation are going without proper lunches that were provided at school through various programs. Tanger has been on the front-line establishing food drives and collections to serve the communities we call home. Eating healthy and a balanced diet we need more than ever at this time. We believe in being an active partner in each of the communities we call home. Our partnerships are essential with our community and government officials helping us to make these markets wonderful destinations for families and friends. We honor those that serve including our firefighters, police officers, the armed forces and medical and rescue personnel. Tanger is grateful for the services these Heroes provide and makes contributions each year of nearly $100,000 to support these crucial partners in our lives. These donations provide supplies, improve training, provide new equipment – there are never any strings attached – they can use as the need finds. During COVID-19 our parking lots have been used for remote staging areas for our local police departments and EMS as needed. Our centers are always available to them and we are here to help.

Because We Can Make A DifferenceTanger Outlet Centers supports the communities we serve and encourages all employees, each year, to get involved and donate their time and service to those in need. This is a great opportunity for team building while helping our communities!Our founder, Stanley K. Tanger (1923-2010), was a well-known philanthropist who recognized the importance of the company being socially responsible as well. In 2006, he implemented Tanger's Volunteerism Program which supports employee participation in worthwhile projects and organizations within communities where we live and work. He also recognized there are communities outside our area of business influence where we can make a positive impact in the lives of others.Although this is a year round program, each year in APRIL we dedicate the month to our founder and our team rolls up our sleeves with Stanley Samaritan and volunteers with ministries and food banks, beautification and environmental projects, clean up and trash pick-up, school projects, therapeutic riding programs, teacher supplies and so much more.During COVID-19, our focus has turned to food collection and supplies need to aid and assist in our communities to feed and stop the spread of this virus.

We are Here to do Our Part to Help Save LivesThe American Red Cross has suffered a significant decrease in blood supply due to widely cancelled blood drive events since the outbreak. We knew we could help!!! Donating blood products is essential to community health and the need for blood products is constant. As part of our nation’s critical infrastructure, healthy individuals can still donate in areas that have issued shelter in place declarations. The Red Cross follows the highest standards of safety and infection control, and volunteer donors are the only source of blood for those in need.There is no known end date in this fight against coronavirus and the Red Cross needs the help of blood and platelet donors and blood drive hosts to maintain a sufficient blood supply for weeks to come. In times of crisis, the Red Cross is fortunate to witness the best of humanity as people roll up a sleeve to help those in need.Tanger has held many blood drives since COVID -19 began and will continue to do so as much as we can.
